Fun & function for
the whole family
By the staff of Dirt Wheels
❏ Polaris has one of the most popular
1000cc, four-seat sport UTVs out there.
That doesn’t mean you can’t make it
better. In fact, we see tons of them
out on the trails and in the dunes in
all states of tune. However, when
we build up a family wagon such as
this, we concentrate more on function
than on fancy. We like to go on long
rides exploring Mother Earth, not just
sit around camp and show off.
To start the build, we went right to
the source. The Pure Polaris accessory division has a catalog full of parts
exclusively designed for the brand.
With these we know they will fit well
and, most important, work. At the
back of the machine, we installed
the Polaris spare tire rack. The $280
swing-out rack easily clamps onto
the rear downtubes of the stock roll
cage. It’s made of lightweight, thin
wall tubing and can be opened from
either side, exposing whatever you
are storing in the cargo bed.
In our case, we had the $299
Polaris cooler box mounted. It holds
more than enough beverages that
four people could drink during a
couple days on the trail. It’s very insulated, gray in color and works about
10 times better than a store-bought
cooler. One of the best features is that
it stays secure to the RZR bed with
built-in hooks and a pair of plung-er-type Lock & Ride fasteners.
