The Walker Evans shocks installed on this racer smoothed out the rough Glen
Helen WORCS track. We were actually using a prototype 2.5-inch shock; they
worked well. The Walker Evans beadlock wheels did a good job holding onto a flat
tire we suffered during the race.
We like how well Goodyear tires work on UTVs. They are strong and offer traction
that is not too aggressive. The Walker Evans shocks we used on this race RZR
were similar to what comes stock on the new Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000i.
We thoroughly tested the Walker Evans shocks and the stock suspension arms in
the WORCS event. They all came through with flying colors. There’s no quicker way
to test off-road equipment than to race it.
don’t know who Walker Evans is,
here’s some history: Walker is one of
the pioneers of off-road truck racing.
He is a multi-time winner in the
desert, as well as in the stadium off-
road events in the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s.
The product line for Walker Evans
Racing in the UTV world consists of
wheels and shocks. In fact, you will
see Walker Evans shocks come stock
on the new Arctic Cat Wild Cat 1000.
Cain’s RZR XP 900 was equipped
with four 14-inch Walker Evans bead-
lock wheels wrapped in Goodyear
rubber. Behind those tires, four huge
Walker Evans shocks were installed
on the stock suspension arms. He
used a new prototype 2.5-inch
adjustable-coil shock that is not yet
for sale. The standard 2-inch shocks
from Walker Evans sell for $443 each.
Each beadlock-equipped wheel from
Walker Evans will set you back $305.
For added protection, the Walker
Evans RZR XP 900 that Cain drove
was outfitted with a cage, doors and
roof from Holz Racing. The engine,
clutch and exhaust were all stock.
