fuel-injection system. It’s basically as
high tech as a modern-day 450cc
sport quad engine, but is built for the
torque demands of a heavier UTV.
Horsepower numbers are impressive
at 45, where the 800 only had 53
ponies. This new powerplant is coupled to a RZR XP 900 transmission
with a slightly different gear ratio.
CVT clutching was also adjusted to
be efficient with less horsepower. In
fact, Polaris claims that the new
engine will give the new RZR a 150-
mile range while using the same
7.25-gallon gas tank. Overall weight
was also reduced over the RZR 800 by
a claimed 8 pounds down to an even
changed for the better. The side-rail
tie-down points are stronger, and
there is now an engine-access panel
in the floor of the cargo area. Under it
you will find a big, pleated, square
air filter that is easy to access.
Polaris did not just sleeve-down
the 800 engine, they built a brand-new one. While the 570 engine has
less displacement, it is better in every
way. The old twin-cylinder engine
had a slow-revving pushrod and a
rocker-arm valve train with only two
valves per cylinder. It was a pain to
work on and even harder to modify.
The new engine is a single-cylin-der, liquid-cooled four-stroke with
dual overhead cams, four valves,
and a single throttle-body, electronic
Nine inches of wheel travel is achieved
via a dual A-arm setup; it’s only preload adjustable. The shocks are not
jarring at slow speeds and can take
rough trail abuse.
A completely new rear-suspension system was developed for the RZR 570. It
features dual A-arms instead of the A-arm/channel arm setup found on the
800. Here, 9. 5 inches of pre-load-adjustable travel works very well.
This new RZR features a pleated-square, paper-filter element similar to
what is found on the RZR XP 900. It can
be accessed through a panel in the
cargo bed. The CVT and intake snorkels
have been routed up high in the left
At $9999, the RZR 570 is one of the
lowest-priced UTVs you can buy. As a
cost-cutting measure, Polaris removed
the glovebox and the two-stage headlight system on this model. Both products can be purchased separately from
the dealer and installed later.
