❏ Less than a year ago, in October
2013, Honda invited Dirt Wheels to its
R&D facility in Ohio to sample the then
all-new Honda FourTrax Rancher.
For 2014 the Foreman Rancher plat-
form, with an all-new chassis and
bodywork, and multiple Rancher
models return with a new simplified
reverse and parking brake setup but
no other mechanical changes. With
total sales of 185,000 utility/4x4 ATVs
each year, and Honda with the big-
gest slice of that pie, it only made
sense that other models would follow
with the same sort of re-engineering.
Six new 4x4s with updated indepen-
dent rear suspension (IRS) are the first
all-new 2015 ATV models announced.
Honda’s numbers show that the utility
market is now 60 percent IRS, and it
was time to go big with IRS models.
The king of the 2015 Honda
Rubicons is the Four Trax
Foreman Rubicon Deluxe,
available with automatic
transmission and foot-shift
five-speed with automatic
clutch. The Deluxe has the
good stuff, plus machined
cast-aluminum wheels and
red suspension parts.
