A DOUBLE RAINBOW
Here is the pot of gold that Mavrick
Janas found at the end of two rainbows. His Honda 700XX is perfect
for riding around the hills of British
Columbia where he lives.
ULTIMATE DUNE QUAD ENGINE?
Every now and then you see a
TRX250R at the dunes that has a
Honda CR500 engine instead. Now,
what would you think about having four of those engines in a quad?
That’s basically what you have here.
It’s a V- 4 engine using four CR500
two-stroke cylinders. It should easily
make 250 horsepower and have an
awesome exhaust sound.
READER’S CUSTOM 4X4 RIDE
No, this is not a micro photo of a
spider looking at you. It is, in fact,
a Can-Am Renegade 1000 4x4
as owned by Jamie Seamster in
Virginia. He certainly has the tires
for clawing his way through mud,
and with the snorkels, he’ll be able to
go pretty deep. We’re not a big fan of
the loud stereo speakers, though. We
figure that the music we like may be
irritating to others. And besides, the
sound of the engine is what we prefer to hear on rides.
HIGH-TECH QUAD ENGINES
A few years ago we reported
on a new high-performance quad
made by a company called US
Highland. We went to their factory in
Oklahoma to check things out, and
we were impressed by their operation. But then, a tragic plane crash
suddenly changed the direction
of US Highland, and production of
their quads and dirt bikes stopped.
However, the engines are still being
manufactured. The 450 is fuel injected and produces 50 horsepower. It
comes with an electric starter and
sells for $4999. The V-twin 950 makes
110 horsepower and sells for $6999.
You can buy one engine or 100 of
them. For specific information, check
