After Kawasaki added two back seats
in the Teryx, there was only enough
space left for a small cargo platform.
This cargo box (available at the dealer)
solves a lot of cargo issues.
Warn’s latest heavy-duty UTV winch is
the Pro Vantage 4500. We ordered the S
model with synthetic rope instead of a
cable. It mounts on a strong steel platform on the front of the T4 behind the
directly behind the front bumper.
Kawasaki gives you a solid steel platform to mount any winch on, which
makes things simple in the garage.
The battery is also located nearby
(under the tilting hood), so providing
power to the winch was a snap. This
was one of easiest winches we have
ever wired up.
The 4500-pound winch could basi-
cally pull a truck out of danger. It’s still
light and compact, but has tough
steel drive gears and a sealed hous-
ing, so you don’t have to avoid sub-
merging the winch under water. The
50 feet of 7/32-inch synthetic rope will
also hold up to the off-road elements.
It can’t rust, it won’t kink, and it will
easily be able to pull the 1500-pound
T4 out of a jam when needed. You
can operate the winch via a lighted
dash-mount switch or with a wired
remote if you don’t want to be in the
machine during extraction.
While we were working on the bat-
tery, we wired up two sets of Warn
lights that mounted to a cool Warn
light bar at $250. We chose two 5-inch
HIDs in the center to light the trail and
a smaller pair of 3.5-inch halogen
spotlights for a spread of light that
slightly lighted each side of the trail.
The HIDs run $500 a pair, and the
smaller halogens are only $200 per
pair. With the lights in use, we had
about a 200-foot circle of total day-
light out in front of us at any time of
night. We could actually drive faster
at night with these lights than during
the day because the shadows help
you see how big the bumps are, and
there was never any glare bouncing
back toward the driver. Info on all

We outfitted our go-anywhere machine
with some tough 27.5-inch Pit Bull
A half-windshield is a product we install
on almost every UTV we have for long-
term testing. You can get this unit
directly from the Kawasaki dealer.
The Teryx4 is a hot seller for Kawasaki.
It’s super tough and capable of taking
the whole family off the beaten path
