KYMCO MXU 700i ($8,599)
Kymco’s biggest-bore ATV sports a 694cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled powerplant that is paired with an automatic CVT-style transmission that has reverse. The 4x4
system has a front locking differential that is electronically
controlled. The suspension is fully independent front and
rear on this machine.
KYMCO MXU 500i ($7,499)
The MXU 500i shares the same chassis as the MXU
700i. The machine has a 501cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is also paired with an automatic
CVT-style transmission with reverse. Kymco makes parts
for Kawasaki machines, as well as other big-brand ATV
manufacturers. They are quality machines, and the 700
and 500 come with standard power steering. LE versions
are available with aluminum wheels, a winch and automotive paint.
KYMCO MXU 450i ($6,199)
Kymco’s MXU 450i pairs a 443cc, liquid-cooled four-stroke engine with an automatic CVT transmission that
has reverse. Dual hydraulic disc brakes slow the front of
this ATV down, while a single hydraulic disc brake stops
the rear tires from spinning. It is a decent workhorse and
can tow up to 1050 pounds.
HONDA FOREMAN ($7,099)
The Foreman has the same size engine as the Rubicon,
but the suspension is different. The rear is a swingarm-type suspension, while the front is an independent double
A-arm style. The ride might not be as smooth as the
Rubicon, but the 4x4 system has a locking front-differential
and a manual transmission.
HONDA RANCHER 4X4 ($6,199)
The 420cc Honda Rancher 4x4 carries a liquid-cooled,
single-cylinder, four-stroke engine in its frame paired
with a manual transmission. You can purchase the ES
version, which adds $250 to the price and an Electronic
Shift Program. Power steering doesn’t come standard but
can be included for an additional $700. Honda even offers
another version that has independent rear suspension
instead of a swingarm.
KAWASAKI BRUTE FORCE 750i ($8,999)
Kawasaki’s Brute Force is their big-bore sport-utility
ATV. This machine has always packed a torquey punch
out of its 749cc V-twin engine, which is electronically fuel-injected and liquid-cooled. The Brute Force comes with a
selectable 4WD system with an electronic front differential
that is lockable. It rides on independent front and rear
suspension. You can get the power-steering version for
