BAD BOY PLUS
You can see the new Bad Boy
Stampede Crew in the “UTV Buyer’s
Guide” starting on page 78, but
here is more information than we
had room for in the guide. We had
the chance take a good look at the
machine, and the quality, fit and
finish are all very nice. We had
BAD BOY MINUS
This is one way to go on a diet!
Some poor crew at Bad Boy must
have spent many long hours doing
a complete cutaway on a UTV! It is
interesting to see how everything in
these machines is packaged to make
the whole concept work.
MOST RADICAL ATC70s
The other “A” country has some
wild motorheads too. We’re talking
Australia, and we have two Dirt
Wheels readers down there who
have done something we’ve never
seen before. Check out Mart Whyte’s
ATC70 with an air-cooled ATC250R
engine in it. Normally, the cylinder
sticks up from the cases, which
someone 6-foot-1 sit in both the front
and back seats, and it is roomy and
comfortable. Make no doubt, Bad
Boy is a player in the UTV market.
Employees at the company were
giddy about the four-seater Crew,
saying that it is more fun to drive
than the two-seater. Dirt Wheels
should have one soon.
means it wouldn’t fit in the small
space of the ATC70 engine. That
didn’t stop Mart; he made a plate to
block off where the cylinder used to
go and machined a new opening
at the front of the engine cases. This
allows the cylinder to point forward
like the 70 engine.
John McEwan did the same thing
to his ATC70s, but he used four-
stroke engines instead. You’ll notice
how the cylinder points forward on
the ATC200X engine, and John per-
formed some similar reconstructive
surgery on the other one, too, using
a Honda CRF230F engine. It even
retains the electric starter. The Dirt
Wheels crew gives Mart and John the
Engineering Awards of the Month.
Good show!
