13 YEARS AGO IN DIRT WHEELS
Our December 2001 issue was a
great example of how many new
quads were coming out back then.
We had the first reports on Suzuki’s
all-new Z400 sport quad and Honda’s
all-new Rincon 650 4x4. We also had
a test on the second-year model
(2002) of Yamaha’s Raptor 660.
There was a new Baja version of
Bombardier’s DS650 that we tested
as well. Eddie Sanders was the go-to
guy for Honda 250R racing hardware, and we did a feature on him
and his ESR products. Rounding out
that issue, we went for an ATV ride
with NASCAR’s Richard Petty and
got his thoughts on why quads are
so much fun.
On opening weekend of deer-hunt-ing season, we had the opportunity
to drive the Tactical Black Edition
Yamaha Viking 700. For 2015, the
Viking comes in a variety of colors,
